    Selection screens Empty Selection screens

Post by Inigo Montoya Sun Oct 09, 2011 11:39 pm

    Hey guys!

I've been downloading a couple custom tracks and because they usually don't have a propper track selection picture I just made my own. I might make more if encouraged. Feel free to use them to improve the style of your track selection screens.

How to use: just copy it into "NETKAR PRO ROOT DIRECTORY\tracks\TRACKNAME\ui\ntres" overwriting the other one.

    Hope you like them. Wink

    Germany:

    Hockenheimring:
Selection screens Hockenheimring Selection screens Hockenheimring

    Netherlands:

    Zandvoort (Full GP)
Selection screens ZandvoortRSR_fullgp Selection screens ZandvoortRSR_fullgp

    Zandvoort (Short)
Selection screens ZandvoortRSR_ShortTrack Selection screens ZandvoortRSR_ShortTrack

    Changelog:
    - Hockenheim mini-picture changed to an ingame-shot - both blue & red versions (10/19/2011 12:53 AM CET)
    - Some like it red. Red versions added! (10/19/2011 12:19 AM CET)
    - Improved Zandvoord (Full GP) (10/18/2011 11:18 PM CET)
    - Released Zandvoort (Short) (10/18/2011 11:18 PM CET)
    - Improved Hockenheimring (blue) (10/18/2011 11:18 PM CET)

    more to come..

I'm thinking about making custom track screens blue'ish instead of red'ish, so one can easily differenciate custom tracks from original tracks. What do you think? Feedback please!

I might not be able to make screens for all custom tracks (I don't know how many there are, I just bought netKar PRO yesterday) - but if you give me a heads up on the names of the best tracks available I'll see what I can do.

Regarding my handle: I am very careful with divolging personal data online. I hope the change I've made suffices.

Well, give me a list of your favorites and I'll get started.

I haven't found many tracks yet - that's why I don't know which to do. I've been googling for them but couldn't find a website with that many. Also I lack the nerves to try 'em all out. You could help me in picking the really good ones and I'll make the screens. Deal?

    Regarding my name: updated Wink

I think (hope) the track list in my signature's complete (site can be a tad slow though as it's on a free host). Regarding what are the most popular, that's probably debatable, but I'll make a list tomorrow of the ones you most often see online or used in leagues.

Zandvoort? Released both versions! (check first post)

    Regarding the Hockenheim selection pic:
I don't have a nice aerial ingame picture of the Hockenheim track, so I used a real one. If someone can provide a nice aerial ingame picture of it please make it available to me so I can replace the real one.

    EDIT (October 18th 2011):
Further tweaked and improved Zandvoort (Full GP) and released Zandvoort (Short). You can find them in the first post.

    Zee list:
    • A1 Ring

    • Adelaide 1989

    • Autumn Ring

    • Bahrain

    • Blackwood

    • Donington Park

    • Hungaroring

    • Interlagos

    • Istanbul

    • Laguna Seca

    • Monza

    • Mugello

    • Nordschleife

    • Silverstone (the old one)

    • Snetterton (again the old one)

    • Spa-Francorchamps (2001)

    • Suzuka

Some people might disagree, but I'd say right now they're the most popular circuits. Some like Laguna Seca used to be more so (before more add-on tracks were released after the track editor was made available). Also I need to issue an update for Blackwood (since some of the walls started working in 1.3 Razz) so I'll include your UI image if you choose to make one. I found a nice pic' of the track a while ago if you wunna use it (not sure who made the image though):

No one will notice I deleted those trees (at the front) in the nKPro ver. Very Happy

    Great job!

I voted for blue even if from an aesthetic point of view I would prefer red, but I agree with the idea to reserve RED for original Tracks and BLUE for add-on track.

This is not the nKPRO Version of the Hockenheimring you used for the aerial picture, is it? It looks so different.

Thanks for these Inigo, they look great. I voted for blue to separate add-on tracks from original tracks, but either colour would be greatly appreciated.

no, you're right - it's not from netkar pro. but it's the only nice ingame shot of the hockenheimring I found. if someone can provide a nice ingame shot of it from nkp I'd gladly update it with it.

idea to reserve RED for original Tracks and BLUE for add-on
    track.

I also prefer the blue ones for that reason (differenciate between originals and customs). Also with the red ones there is another problem: although I can try to immitate them well they aren't exactly like the originals and there remains an "odd" look to them (in my humble opinion). It might be related to the effect of the uncanny valley where the brain refuses something similar because it recognizes the subtle differences to the original. That's why, personally, I'd go with blue. It didn't take too much effort to convert them to red so I made them also available in red. If I find the time I'll make them all available in both colors so you can pick your style, but blue comes first.

M Carey wrote:Just a (dweeby) idea, what about red for older .nko tracks, & blue for newer .kto ones?

I didn't even know there was such a separation. I just bought the game a week ago and began downloading custom tracks, stumbled over this site along the way and got started on the screens after I noticed they didn't have propper ones. For me it doesn't make a difference if they're *.nko or *.kto so I just go with the idea "blue=custom" and "red=original", everything beyond that just makes it unnecessary complicated in my opinion. Most likely I'll be able to provide both color versions of each track in the list, so you can pick the colors for whatever reasons you choose. Wink

MikaRaymond wrote:why doesnt he just release two packs of the different colours? Very Happy

Ain't that exactly what I'm doing? I released blue ones and red ones. As soon as they are all done I'll pack them up like that.
For those who can't wait until then I release each of them as soon as they're finished.

If someone can provide nice overview screenshots of the tracks in M Carey's list on the first page of this thread, that would be very helpful!

Recently I noticed the replay function might be helpful for that. But maybe the editor is even better for aerial shots. I don't know, I have no idea how to run the editor.
