    Multilayered textures Empty Multilayered textures

Post by Marco Calesella Sat Oct 23, 2010 7:43 pm

    Hi all,
I'm trying to find a clue on the following problem. I'm trying to convert a track with some particular materials defined with multiple layers of textures.
This is something different, at least I assume, from a multimaterial object, not supported in netKarPRO. In this case the material is one only, but with more than one texture layer.
You cans see the material definition inside 3DSimed:
    Multilayered textures 28wnj36

Take note of the 4 different diffuse textures and the combining mode in the shader definition.
When I convert it in 3DSMax, despite of the method used, I find the material with only the first diffuse layer defined.

    So my problems:
Are these materials supported in netKarPro?
How can I define it in 3DS MAX (or directly kofLite) to be able to use it in netKar? It woul be better in 3DSMax, because probably I'll need also some texture coordinates adjustment.

I'm studying the problem, but if someone knows already the solution I'll be very graceful indeed, my head is already smoking since 2 days!

    Thank You for your help!

    Ciao Marco,

    Grazie

Hi Marco, if google translated the post correctly then i understand your problems and they can be solved.
If you try Anderstorp then you will see 8)

You can get the max file of anderstorp if you want to investigate how to do it, just send a pm to me or andrea to get the link

    English

I answer from my side telling you that for the moment I gave up this multitexture topic because I had to understand more "basic" things. Nevertheless I'll come back on it asap.
    Sorry not to be helpful!

    shader: layered_grass
    prima texture: tutto il terreno
    seconda texture: occlusion map
    terza texture: l'erbetta

few more notes about this shader after speaking with Si3v:
    you can choose 3 textures:
    1) this will be mapped just as it's mapped in the 3d model. It's NOT possible to change the scale of this texture.
    2) this will use the mapping in the 3d model. It's possible to change the scale il with the VARS> layer1Mult
    3) this will use the world space mapping. It's possible to change the scale il with the VARS> layer2Mult

layer3Mult is useless. You can only multiply the texture 2 (with layer1Mult) and 3(layer1Mult2). texture 1 is fixed

    blend mode:
0: sum of the 3 textures
1: multiplication of the 3 textures

One more important note: texture 1 will always be the only one showed in the mirrors. Be careful to choose the right one!

Layered grass in combination with alpha blend works really well for transitions between materials (grass/sand/tarmac).
Note: the grass is already using Layered Grass shader with 3 textures.
For the transition I used, in this case, 1 texture only and checked alpha blend option.
