Stable drivers for Radeon with MAX

Post by paul thomas on Tue Jun 14, 2011 7:09 pm

Im currently running radeon 11.5 driver and max keeps crashing my gfx card. Does anybody know if any of the older drivers are more stable.

In addition to max crashing my gfx card I keep getting Critical outof memory errors. When taskmanager says only 67% of my memory is being used?

Can anybody help as max is unusable at the moment I can t even save my track, which is only 55meg.

    Thank you

ATI & Nvidia 3DsMax performance plugins

Post by Andrew Scott on Wed Jun 29, 2011 10:31 am

    Hey Paul,

Ive had issues with Windows7x64, Max and my Ati 5850, the drivers for my card seem to fail and recover frequently, so I did some tinkering with my 3D settings which helped somewhat, but I was searching for plugins and found this Max performance plugin for ATI cards which was released 2-7-11, I haven't used it, so I can't say if it has helped or not, sorry, hope its a solution to your problem Smile. The link below is to AMD's site.

    http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/fire/Pages/fire_plugins.aspx?type=2.4.3;2.4.5;2.4.7&product=2.4.7.3.3.7⟨=us&rev=N/A&ostype=W

Nvidia performance plugins are also available for Max 09,10 and 11 for those who prefer Nvidia cards, link below.

    Cheers all

hi man i have problem with my 5870 under windows 7 with my ssystem with 4 gb on 2x2 stick (driver stop responding under heavy benchmark test)
    no problem under xp
found fix setting my bios option ganged/ungaged ...
    try different setting
    or read ganged/unganged setting
    the main rule are:
quad core with 4 stick di ram UNGAGED setting
quad core with 2 stick of ram GANGED setting

    Ganged - 1 x 128-bit path for memory
advantage for intensive, single threaded memory hawgs
    *comp/decomp
*real time capture / recording of media
*lowest latency for single threaded, memory intensive apps.

    unganged 2 x 64-bit path for memory
    *multi-tasked, SMP aware apps
*several simulataneous memory reads and writes
    *lowest latency for multi-tasking

    so try variuos setting
    i resolve craSh
driver not responding was caused by an overflow in process
    GPU -> RAM->CPU->RAM ->GPU

let me know if u resolve
