    Favorite Tracks? Empty Favorite Tracks?

Post by Rob Bailey Sat Apr 09, 2011 3:59 pm

    Hello -

I am new to your forum. First I want to thank you for all the great work you do for the netKar community. Also, I love the Cars theme! Unfortunately I work during the time when your league races or else I would join your league.

I have not tried any of the add-on tracks. Which ones are your favorites, and why?

    Cheers -

Ciao Rob, all of the add on track has some particular aspect that makes them fine...
I like Mugello because of the continuos going up and down, A1 ring because it is not difficult to catch the limit, SPA and Suzuka because they are incredible, and then Sepang, Melbourne, Adelaide (that is one of the most difficult race track I have ever seen)....

So...download all the addon track and find yourself your favourite one, try them online so we can meet ourself in track (I use always the KS2 car....my favourite car!!!)

    See youon track, bye

I like em all, some a little more than others but they are all great race tracks.

If I had to pick favourites they would be:

Adelaide and Melbourne 1st (because I'm an Aussie), Brands Hatch, Spa 2010, Nurburgring and Suzuka.

But as I said, they are all great race tracks.

So a BIG THANKS must go to all the guys who build and convert these tracks for our enjoyment.

Me & this other guy tried, and even with 12GB of RAM the track editor wouldn't load the circuit. My machine wouldn't even load the track in 3ds Max Razz

There is already one out there, I downloaded one on a site I don't know anymore.
But it is a conversion of GPLegends out of the 60s if I remember right, so not 100% up to date and a very basic conversion also (nko file is just 3.7 MB of size), there were even more of those small basic tracks
    on that site.. .

I did an upload of it here:

Hi all, I downloaded the Nordschleife, many THANKS to M Waechter Smile.
But had a problem with it not showing up in the track menu, ended up having 2 Nurburgring files in my tracks folder, so I opened the Config settings file inside the Nordschleife (use notepad) and changed the name from Nurburgring to Nordschleife, this seemed to work ok as the track showed up in the menu as Nordschleife, but sadly it crashed when I attempted to load it.

    Anyone else having this issue?
Is it due to the fact I changed the name?
If not, can it be fixed?

That's the old netKar (namie) version, which stopped working with v1.2 for some reason. They're not very good anyway, no shaders, & I remember the ring looking particularly poor Wink

Hmmmm, what a bummer man Sad

Can it be fixed or converted to run on 1.3?, or is there still the problem with the files being to big to open for conversion purposes?

I remember Jaap saying he could convert the old namie tracks, but he wasn't gonna just to get the credit Smile A1 Ring was a namie conversion, but without major updates (like A1 had) most tracks would look shocking in nKPro.

So it's really just a matter of time before most "namie" tracks are converted and updated for 1.3 and beyond.

So how difficult is it to convert tracks? Ive noticed more guides and walkthroughs on the subject in recent months, the reason for asking is, Ive just upgraded my PC to an AMD 1090T Hexacore with 8Gb ram [I'll be upping the ram to 16Gb soon Smile ] and Windows7 x64, is this enough PC grunt to think about converting some tracks? Ive got a few Aussie and Kiwi (New Zealand) tracks in mind.

8GB will handle most things, 16GB anything Razz Are you planning a space mission? Wink I only have 3GB of RAM, 2GHZ dual core, & struggle with anything other than small tracks.

    Hey Andrew,

if you want to start with something small, you can look at the Norisring. 8)
Its a very small and realy fun track. Laughing

I don't think size's too much of an issue (although converting the ring for your first attempt would be a bit ambitious for example), just experiment to start with. Bathhurst would be sweet though:

Oliver, I like Norisring, specially in V8Factor Unleashed, Lol. Might do it a little later if someone else doesnt.
    M. Carey, thats a good idea mate, I was just gonna mess around a bit 1st, then get serious once I get a feel for things.
But being as Aussie I'm gonna look at doing some Australian tracks 1st, starting with Oran park, there was a BTB laser version released for rF, its a smallish technical track with some nice undulations and a good length straight that has a deadly bump at the end of it, which is on the kink at the begining of the braking zone.
Oran park was closed down a few years ago,(for a housing Estate) so its now part of Aussie racing history, this way we can keep it alive.

Bathurst will need SPECIAL attention due to its iconic status.

Someone told me Oran Park was very bumpy in nKPro (but I've not tried converting it myself). I did try Sandown (from rF), but the track wasn't really good enough. It's a shame as I enjoyed the circuit in Toca 3, where it was good fun in Clio's - Formula 3.
