Some new tracks Empty Some new tracks

Post by Tomas Torasen Fri May 27, 2011 8:16 pm

Here is an update about tracks I'm working on.

Mountain Florest converted from rFactor, original author Mario Morais:

    Nordschleife also close to finished:

In both these tracks, KOF is crashing every time I try to create cameras. I click "set" and thats it. Any ideas what might be causing this? I could do it for other tracks and I let a friend try it on his PC and same thing happened.

The third track still not released is machwerk where the timing is still not working. Will go back to try to fix it after these two other releases.

Any help on the cameras would be greatly appreciated!

amazing work, Tomas. Nordschleife, in particular has always been a dream of many netKar users for a long time.

I've no idea about the cameras. Never seen this problem before. is there anything on the {nk folder}\logLite.txt or in {Documents}\netKar PRO\logs\log.txt?

Have you tried with an older version of nKpro?
if you want I can help you out with this doing some experiments. I've some older versions still installed.

Tomas, I think I know what the problem is with the cameras:
    follow this procedure:
    in the cameras tab:
    1) press new. it will create NCAMERAXXX
    2) select NCAMERAXXX clicking on it (it will be highlighted in blue) <---- I think this is your missing step. If you don't do it will crash!
    3) choose the position you want, and the other parameters for fov an sector
    4) press SET

Thanks. I was just writing that I found the solution for the cams when I saw your reply. It was exatly as you described, Andrea.

I know about nordschleife, and off course why I converted it was it was also my most wanted track to use netKar physics on Wink It's a bit bumpy though, since it's an rFactor conversion but possible to drive.

Permission to release has been granted for Mountain Florest. But I havent got a reply from com8 yet.. anyone here know him? I wrote to him only at his youtube channel.. maybe someone has his email adress?

    Hi all,
Very nice Tomas and thanks for the hard works.
Just one thing about the Nords, isn't it too grippy; ... don't you think that the back train of the FR should be much more lighter on the brakes and also on the fast curves, so, I mean dynamically and aerodynamically?
About the bumps, from the replay it seems very acceptable and it makes the track more "alive".
Anyway thanks again for your hard work.

Not sure if you mean the track is too grippy or about how the car should behave?

I dont think you will complain about too much grip or too easy when you drive it ;P It's almost impossible to drive the KS2 on this track surfuce, but defenitely possible with a good setup.

Just tried the abarth which is great fun here! And this car handles bumps very well to me.

Well, in fact both, as I don't know if it's what could be a "too grippy" track that gives the car this very sticky feeling (again, judging by the video).

Anyway, thanks again for this very well done convertion.

default grip is always the same in all nk tracks. I think it depends very much on the setup you use.

Very nice looking track, Tomas. well done once more.

I wrote him a while back asking would it be ok if someone from the netKar community converted the nordschleife and this was his response..

"Yeah, unfortunately I can't do it myself - short on time.

So you have permission to convert it - but please give me a version before release to check if it suits my standards!

    Cheers, Alex"

So if you contact him via his youtube channel and say that marusarilliusirl sent you and give him your version to see if he ok's it Smile

hah thanks ;P But I really didnt intend to get this much attention. I just wanted this track like everyone else and I am not one of the great converters here, rather quite new to it.
Suddenly I have 3000 views on the vid on youtube and people posting the info here and there.
So now I get a little hesitant that I must deliver something special. So currently discussing with some beta testers if I should go back and smooth out some bumps or not. We'll see what Andrea thinks in a bit =)

    Hi Tomas,
Nordschleife is the greatest news that NKpro had the last weeks. I just can't wait to drive on it.
I wish you so much luck to finish this track

It's a great news to have this track on Netkar!! The only problem is that there isn't GT cars on NKPro! The 500 Abarth is a lil bit slow Smile

Here comes an Osella lap too. Not the best lap obviously Razz Just a quicky.
We have a beta test race scheduled tomorrow, a bunch of guys to drive Osella. This is to find any possible last bugs. As soon as this is done, and possible bugs are fixed I will release it.
