Our server is having some problems lately, so we asked to some friends to give us an hand.

Thanks to Stefano Schivari (the webdesigner or our website) and his website, http://www.iraceonline.it/ we have a new server to use for this race.

Actually we have even something else that you will be all very happy about: the live timing developed by Stefano Schivari also!

Please use the server called iraceonline.itR. Your times will be logged on this page.

Thanks a lot for your help Stefano!

We will try to fix the problems with our server as soon as possible.
We hope that the problem you guys faced with low FPS and lags were actually related to our server.

No full mode, unfortunately. Let's hope that with the new release that nasty bug will be fixed (I doubt it will be in the first drop. I will strongly push to have it fixed as soon as Kunos will have some more time).

Check here how to behave without full mode

lol Shocked attilio barba: 42.414 in the first section.. maybe there was an incident or s.th. and you cutted on that lap ?
this is more than two seconds faster than everyone Shocked Wink .

btw. is it allowed to use the whole width of the main straight, meaning also driving on the right side next to the pit wall (of course while not disturbing the ones that might come out of the box later at the straight..) ?

I cannot see any good reason to go on the right on the main straight outside of the white lines. Is that really going to give you any advantage?
People tent to go as left as they can to gain as much speed as possible on Parabolica exit.

As a general rule you need to be within the white lines, unless you make a mistake.
    Rule 9 says:
drivers must have two wheels touching (in any way) or be exactly vertically above the track at any time during the lap.
The white lines defining the track edges are considered to be part of the track...

Remember that in case you cut a corner, you need to lift off, in a way that you will not get any advantage out of it.
If you are battling with someone and you cut, the etiquette says that you need to give position.
Do things a way that feels right! Apart from the rules, I think that everyone should use some common sense while racing. At the end we are here for having fun together, isn't it?

I don't think there is any doubt on Attilio's time. It's clearly a cut. I don't think I even have to mention that, if anyone will get his time cutting, will be heavily penalized (disqualified for one or more races).

    Red Zone:

An accindent in the first corners of this track can have massive consequences.
For this reason we decided to extend a bit the red zone.

Rule 5 (a.k.a. 5 corners rule): It is important to pay attention especially in the first part of the race, where all cars are close to each other. For this reason, we define per each track the “red zone”, where the 5 corners rule applies. 5 corners is just a convention. For each track the red zone might be extended till a safer zone.
The responsibility of all drivers is to avoid incidents in the first corners which can have massive consequences and therefore all participants must be careful.
Starts must be as clean and incident-free as possible. The finish line is not at the first turn. Turn 1 cannot be approached as it happens during the qualification session. The tires are cold, the car is heavy and the track crowded. Drivers must act wisely and drive safely for themselves and for the other participants, for example by:
    o braking earlier than normal
o maintaining a safe distance from the other cars during the first corners
o giving enough space to other drivers with some margin for error by other participants

Any collision from behind will result in the driver behind being considered as the guilty driver, unless the car in front has lost control.
In case of accident on the “red zone” the Race Director could penalize the drivers directly.

It's just an exception / a habit of me just on this track, I'm doing this since GP4 lol... Wink, 'cause at the exit of the parabolica I am more near to the right side, so I have to go a little less way when I stay there in the middle of the track instead of steering to the outside of this slightly corner where I also have more way to go then.
But I will not do that anymore and stay in the white lines in this straight, I think too you can't gain time when staying more right (maybe just 0.002 sec. or s.th. lol Wink ).

Btw.: on some other tracks it makes sence to stay on a straight line to the finish on a hotlap and not always drive the longer way of the normal ideal-racingline (Malaysia is one of these tracks or also the old layout of Magny Cours and even Interlagos a little bit also).
Sometimes I wonder when watching F1 why most of the F1 drivers take the long way to the finish line in their fastest laps in Malaysia or Interlagos for example. Just very few doing the shorter version(s), in the past I remember that Jaques Villenueve was one of this 'clever' guys who took always the shorter ways to the finish line on every track where this had been an advantage Very Happy .

edit: I just watched this nice 'WR-lap' of Barrichello (year 2004 I guess) again and saw that he does it too a little bit (but not outside the white line of course) Very Happy :
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6l_uhy8NEWc&feature=&p=70AFF554C77666A4&index=0&playnext=1
or this Schumi one (2003): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t1GK6oy8bHI&feature=related
-But I noticed, the counting start/finish line was set more earlier at the back of the straight at that years.

We created a new optimized version of Monza. We hope this will fix the fps problems someone had.
It's still a beta version, therefore it's published for internal use only. We strongly advice to do a backup of the current version 1.1, and try out this version v1.1 beta.
We included 2 texture packages. the standard is with lower resolution. If you want to use the HD package, just rename the folder "texture HD" in "texture".

Please don't distribute this link. We will make a public release as soon as everything else is fixed.
Please let us know if this is improving or not.

The new version is available in the control center.

Is there something else different with the beta track compared to v1.0 or are there just the lower res textures added to this beta1.1 package ?
Can I use the v1.0 still if the performance is good (for me v1.0 works fine as long the v-mirror is turned off) ?

the track itself is absolutely the same. We improved quite a lot on settings, and removed polygons, so it should be faster.

You can use the HD textures included, or even use the v1.0. Absolutely up to you.

    Tracks are compatible.

Managed to completely forget about the race until i noticed the briefing had started. Had to download the track, which meant i missed qualifying. But managed to get into the server at the 250sec to start. Phew!
The rest of the race can be summarized in two sentances.

Well done to Giuseppe Scollo for ruining race 1 for me.
Well done to British Telecom for ruining race 2 for me.

Seriously though, Giuseppe. Why did you make no effort to avoid me? I was stopped after T4. and you had AT LEAST 100m to avoid me. Instead you carried on full throttle until about 10m before hitting me, when you decided that NOW was the time to take evasive action. I lost 5 positions to this, including one to you.

    Replay

And BT. Thanks for throttling my connection to give the **** ******* drug smoking robbing **** bags faster access to porn as and when they need it. I really appreciate my net disconnecting at any moment, particularly towards the end of a large download, while playing, or while just about to start a race. Yeah. Nice one.

Big thanks to the RSR guys for putting the effort into these races. I know its not easy to organise something of this scale. And even though my ability to enjoy them has been hampered and will continue to be, I hugely appreciate your work. Monza was the race that i was most looking forward to. Just so amazingly pissed that it went so terribly.

    Results are up.

I'm very disappointed for the big amount of people that had their allocation and didn't show up.
This is creating us a lot of problems because we spent time to organize things properly, asking around to have 4 servers and configuring them all.

People in group D might have missed their chance to have a nice race just because some of you were allocated and holding your place for the race.

    That's really unrespectful
