Re: Monza RSR
Updates from the Radiator Springs Research & Development department.
Gek worked on a new way of generating shadows. He thought about a new method to capture the real shadow generated from the 3d object itself and generate the static object out of it.
We used this track as our sandbox to improve the track modeling process, introducing new solutions to have better results.
This conversion is far from being a copy of the original track. We added new objects, and remapped quite a lot of objects.
For example grass and sand has been completely remapped, and same for a lot of objects in the box.
3d Object has been improved to optimize performances (we had an improvement of at least 30% from the initial conversion). One more time Gek had some very clever ideas, and implemented a method to improve the 3d.
Further more, we used one more method (guess what? studied by Gek also) to smooth bumps and to make it more realistic.
Culmone from the other side, with his eagle eye, is spotting all the little defects coming from the conversion, and is giving very good advices on what to change, and what else to model to have a better looking track!
This post is a way for me to express my appreciation for the whole team. Everyone is giving their up most to improve our techniques and to get a better result.
Here some examples of the result of the new shadows and the new sand.

Re: Monza RSR
updating of NetKar is scheduled for January 6, day or Championship resumes with RSR Monza, so this update occurs before the test, needless to say that the time we spent making a setup will be lost, view that as usual (which will be an asset to the KS2) the physical change of the car!! organizers anticipate this possibility and react accordingly (postponement of the race if behavioral changes are too obvious)
