    Suzuka 1.0

    Post by Gary Levy on Thu Dec 09, 2010 1:41 am

    Suzuka 1.0

    This is my conversion for netkar of the Suzuka GP circuit.
    My main task has been as a technician/mod as the track was already fantastic in its previous form for rfactor.

    http://www.filefront.com/17623559/Suzuka-v1.0.exe/

    Big thanks go out to:-

    The original dev's - for a well designed track.

    TTTTT - for modifications.

    YES - for the great textures.

    Raceking - original mod and legendary rfactor track maker, for kindly
    giving me permission to convert the track.

    Marco Calesella - for explaining how to smooth out track mesh so
    clearly, thanks man.

    All who have contributed to the tutorials at Radiator Springs.

    And last but by no means least Kunos for a wicked sim and tools.

    Please be aware that this is a 1.0 release and as such any comments/suggestions regarding
    problems or improvements would be greatly appreciated.

    Have fun and perhaps post your lap times! Very Happy

    Gary.

    Hi Gary, definitely a great job, but I have a problem to install it, I have no apparent exe, only a file 41,479 kb, and no indication to open it, I use Windows Seven pro x64 Sad

    That's strange. I thought it might be a problem with 7-zip (I've been using this as standard for years) so I tried uninstalling it and the file still opened. Are you able to extract it like a normal zip?

    You had no prob extracting the exe?

    For fog :-

    with notepad

    Change From :

    [FOG]
    INTENSITY=0.001
    COLOR_R=143
    COLOR_G=177
    COLOR_B=198

    Change To :

    [FOG]
    INTENSITY=0.0505
    COLOR_R=150
    COLOR_G=150
    COLOR_B=150
    INTENSITY_LAYER1=0.00001

    well done Gary! This track version is lovely. Some time ago we converted the very same track and we have been trying to reach RaceKing for a while for the authorization. Unfortunately we haven't found a way to reach him. I'm glad you did!

    We need some coordination though! it's already the second time that two groups have converted the very same track at the same time.
    I will write a post about it.

    are you sure about INTENSITY=0.0505? this is extremely heavy fog!

    fog.ini.10.nkpak is not needed. that is the autoupdate package file

    I just had a look to your version and ours, and I'm happy to say that the track are converted by different versions and both of them are really lovely! The base is just the same GP4 track, but then several groups worked on it enhancing it for rFactor.
    The thing is...which version is ours??? Albert, that originally converted the track, told me at the beginning that was EOAA (from which I got the authorization) then Albert told me he was mistaken and it was RaceKing's...but apparently it is not either! ::doh::
    Ok back to the drawing board! We will try to find who's track is this, ask for the authorization and hopefully we will finally have 2 wonderful Suzuka versions for nkPRO!

    I finally found out that our track is a RaceKing track also, but different from this.

    Sorry for intruding in your topic, Gary.

    If you're using Vista or 7 try to start the exe as admin and with compatibility mode.
