Post by Gary Levy Sun Nov 21, 2010 2:04 am

Here's my conversion of a true classic :-

    http://www.filefront.com/17582926/Brands-Hatch-version-1.1.zip/

    Brands Hatch Nkscr500abarthbrandshat

This is my first try at track making for netkar so I'm sure there are some problems, but I have put in a lot of laps and all the basics seem to be ok. Any comments/feedback much appreciated Smile

All credit to the original track builders and the various people who have converted it over the years, also to the people here, without whose tutorials and tips I never could have made this.

Hope people enjoy it ! Let me know your lap times Very Happy

    Gary.

Update :- Link updated to Version 1.1

well done Gary. Very good job.

One little note that will help us tracking your work: if you do a fix, please add a new post here on the bottom saying that you fixed it. This will trigger people to download it again. If you just edit, most likely no one will notice it Wink

Even more, please use in your packages, and post a version number. For example Brands Hatch v. 1.1 and specify what you fixed in that release.

    Thanks a lot.
I addded your track to the add-on tracker

Sorry for not adding a version number, that was silly of me.Live and learn for next time I guess.
Anyway thanks a million for adding a screenshot and putting the file in addons and making some servers Very Happy

Most of all I'm so glad people are enjoying the track! Hopefully I'm going to get some time to get online and race this afternoon Smile

Lovely track, my only critisism being the total lack of grip on track. But i've found all of the KOFLite addon tracks to be the same.

Just a quick update, after going online I noticed the pit

board wasn't positioned correctly. This can be easily

remedied by editing the nkrefs.ini (inside server folder) so

    that the last part reads:-

    [PITBOARD]
    POS=265.500000, -94.558998, -66.744003
    ROT=85.000000, 0.000000, 0.000000

Alternatively if you don't want to edit your files, I've

    uploaded a fixed nkrefs.ini here :-

[color:f2bf=#000]The bumps in curve 2 are not greatly exaggerated? At least that's the impression I get with KS2.

Not really something that can be fixed at this stage, but the hill on T1 is actually much bigger in real life. its bloody huge!

Great track, and great conversion!!!!! I was really expecting it.
    Brands Hatch 67322 Gary!!!
Only one thing, I agree with Darcy that some curves seems to be a little bit too bumpy (mainly 1,2 and 4 , resp. Paddock hill, Druids and Surtesss bend)
From my point of view and for the experience I had with other tracks it's something due to the poor mesh of the original track, good enough for other simulators, but not for netKar.
Fortunately there is a quite easy solution that at the moment works on most of cases.
I was instructed from f.gek on how to smooth the track in such situations, if you want I can offer my help or I can try to explane you how this can be done. Unfortunately no one at the moment had the time to make a tutorial on this method.
Gary if you are interested you can contact me via PM.

    Bye

    Hi Martin,

cand you please point us to some photos where it's possible to understand how this hill appear in reality?
If possible please explane from your point of view what has to be changed.

The drop between the top of paddock and the bottom of the hill on the exit is about 20m, looking at an os map for the area. its a horrible hill to walk up Very Happy
