Re: 06-03 Aosta Oval
Today we tried to determine whether the rolling start was a better option then the standing start.
We notice that for this particular oval it's acutually better to have a normal start, so tomorrow we will have the usual rules for this track as well, including the FULL MODE.
The RED ZONE is 1 full lap. Please be careful when cars are close to each other.
We suggest, especially in the red zone to avoid to be side by side in the first corners. On the first laps with heavy load and low grip and few reference point it's easy to do mistakes.
Try to be calm and wait for the best moment for overtaking. 50 laps are quite a lot and here is more important to avoid problems than anywhere else.
Sometimes it's much better to give space in the inside of the corner to a faster car, and then try to get back your position in the next straight with a better corner exit and using your opponent slip stream. Avoid problems, and of course a bit of luck, will be the key to win this race.
Good luck to everyone.
Our servers will be opened for some practice before the official race.

I wonder should the penalty given to drivers be a percentage of the total lap rather than a set limit. This would get around the fact that .5 second penalty is particularly harsh for a 38 second lap .. since most laps are about double that or more .

Re: 06-03 Aosta Oval
We couldn't change the rules at this stage of the championship.
I think it's really complex to determine the right percentage, though, since difference on times of the pilots depends on the type of track.
Time differences between pilots depends on the length of the track and how complex it is and it's average speed. On complex circuits good pilots will really make the difference.
How would you calculate this percentage? based on what? only the 1st pilot time?
We might consider this for the next championship, but we need something that will work better than the current solution that is easy and works just fine in the 90% of the cases.

Well I understand that you can't change the rules during a championship. But in the case of an Oval one could come up with an alternate penalty. Because its usually such a short track.

Re: 06-03 Aosta Oval
I agree with you. In case we will use an oval in our next championship (and there is no doubt that will not be this ugly version
) we might define an exception on the general rule for this case.
Anyway, on this track there are +0.696 between the 1st and the 15th, while at Aviano was +0.864. Not such a big difference, don't you think?

I think a lot of that time difference has to do with the fact that people have varying setups for this track and people are not as close to each other as aviano because the aosta oval has many of the drivers scratching their heads(helmets :p).

Re: 06-03 Aosta Oval
So based on this small discussion, you can tell how complex it to set a rule in advance! The good thing of rules is that are valid for everyone.
Sometimes you are not only in the wrong place at the wrong time (to use Luigi's words), but even on the wrong event! tough luck!
No offences, Luigi. It's just for laughing!
And then Luigi, most luckily will manage to get in Group A anyway since he is 17th at the moment (that confirm that he is not so lucky lately. 17 is a bad luck number in Italy!), and Gabriel will not race. So one more driver that will not show up an he will be in!
By the way, who is J Molina????
