Re: Best free anti virus software?
depends very much on what to do, I in my lan with six machines use different antivirus (avast, avira, avg, panda, etc.) to the output of the modem for broadband I have a linux firewall, Endian, which contains all 'interior, an excellent ClamAV antivirus, which filters upstream before they do any backdoor or worm damage, the linux machine has 2 ethernet cards into one entering the other ADSL signal sends the filtered signal to the wireless lan.
double protection I need for my type of work and at Nelly also daily personal computers.
You can find information about http://www.endian.com/it/community/download/
Download the ISO distro linux runs well on a dual core processor with 1GB of RAM and a hard drive 80/160 GB, depending on what you do, you need at least two network cards.
Good luck and have fun

Re: Best free anti virus software?
I'm using AVG too since many many years, really not a bad choice I think,
at least my PCs were never dissorted (much) by any viruses so far
